Pamela Wridt, PhD

Dr. Pamela Wridt is an experienced researcher and evaluator, especially in the thematic areas of children’s rights, children’s participation, geographic education, children’s geographies, community development and emergency preparedness and response. As a geographer, educator, and environmental psychologist, she is an interdisciplinary thinker and innovator of evaluation methods. Dr. Wridt served as an Evaluation Specialist with UNICEF’s Evaluation Office at New York Headquarters (2014-2017), where she managed the organization’s global early childhood development program evaluations. She is a champion of child participation, as well as a teacher and a leader. Dr. Wridt was Co-Director of the Children’s Environments Research Group at the Graduate Center of the City of New York (2010-2014), where she led an international participatory research project to design UNICEF’s global Child Friendly Cities’ community assessment process and tools, which are led by adolescents. She also served as Associate Chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Colorado (2005-2010), teaching undergraduate, masters and PhD students in child-sensitive urban planning and design. She is the author of a wide range of publications, including research articles in peer-reviewed journals and international development research and evaluation publications by major international development agencies. Shale Maulana, MPH, MSW


Chief People Officer

Shale Maulana is an equity advocate and a qualitative evaluation specialist with a decade of evaluation, research and public health experience. As a civil servant, she managed a diverse team and led innovative public health programs to create community-based solutions to address racial disparities in health outcomes in Central Brooklyn. She has consulted with UNICEF to evaluate early childhood development (ECD) programs in Yumbe, Uganda (2017-2019). As an evaluation specialist, she uses an inclusive process to involve a diverse range of stakeholders in the evaluation process. Every evaluation is framed around the understanding that the people with the lived experiences know the most about their lives and the solutions that will make sense for them. Her approach is respectful, trauma-informed and social justice oriented. This enables accurate and nuanced descriptions of complex situations to yield informed, useful recommendations. As a leader, she believes in embodying the values of equity, participation and respect in how the work gets done. She does this through participatory leadership, including a wide range of organizational team members in decision-making and involving a wide range of stakeholders in planning and initiative development.
